Send, edit, and delete messages

You can send a message in any chat room you have access to, and edit or delete your own messages afterwards.

Send a message

1. Open the chat room from the sidebar.
2. Click in the text box at the bottom of the room. It shows a placeholder like "Message My Room".
3. Type your message.
4. Press Enter to send, or click the send button on the right.

To add a new line without sending, press Shift+Enter.

URLs and email addresses you type are turned into links automatically.

Edit a message

You can only edit messages you sent yourself.

1. Hover over the message. A small action bar appears in the top-right corner of it.
2. Click the pencil icon (Edit).
3. The message text becomes editable. Change the text as needed.
4. Press Enter to save, or click Save. Press Escape or click Cancel to discard your changes.

Once a message has been edited, it shows "(edited)" next to the timestamp.

You can also press the up arrow key in an empty message box to start editing your most recent message straight away.

Delete a message

You can only delete messages you sent yourself.

1. Hover over the message. A small action bar appears in the top-right corner of it.
2. Click the bin icon (Delete).
3. A confirmation dialog appears. Click Delete to confirm.

Deleted messages are removed permanently and cannot be recovered.
