Load earlier messages

When you open a chat room, Chat shows the most recent messages. To read older ones, scroll up through the history.

Scroll back to read earlier messages

1. Open the chat room you want to read.
2. Scroll up toward the top of the message list.
3. When you reach near the top, Chat automatically loads the next batch of older messages. A spinner appears briefly at the top of the list while they load.
4. Continue scrolling up to load more. Repeat until you reach the messages you are looking for.

When there are no more messages to load, scrolling to the top does nothing further. You have reached the beginning of the conversation.

New messages while you scroll

If a new message arrives while you are reading back through history, Chat does not scroll you back to the bottom. You can continue reading at your current position. To jump back to the latest messages, scroll down to the bottom of the list.
