Get started with Drive

last updated at: Jun 8, 2026

Drive is where your files live in Eigen. You can upload files from your computer, create documents and spreadsheets without leaving the browser, organise everything into folders, and share any of it with other people. This page is a quick tour of what you can do.

Add your files

Click the New button at the top of the sidebar. From there you can:

  • Upload files from your computer.
  • Create a folder to organise things.
  • Start a new document, spreadsheet, presentation, board, or chat. These open straight away in the browser.

You can also drag files from your desktop and drop them into Drive.

Open and edit files

Click a file to open it. Documents, spreadsheets, and presentations open in their own editor. Other files, like images and PDFs, open in a preview.

To look at a file without leaving the list, open its menu (right-click, or the button) and choose Quick preview. The same menu has Open in new tab, Rename, and Download.

Keep things organised

  • Move files by dragging them onto a folder.
  • Rename a file or folder from its menu.
  • Browse by type, such as images or docs, to find things faster.
  • Search your files by name from the search bar at the top.

Share your files

Anything in Drive is private to you until you share it. Open a file's menu and choose Share to give other people access, decide whether they can view or edit, and send them a link. See Share a file or folder for the details.

Recover something you deleted

Deleted files aren't gone right away. They go to the Trash, where you can restore a file you still need or empty it to remove everything for good. Open the Trash from the sidebar.

Use Drive from your computer

If you'd rather work with your files in Finder or File Explorer, you can connect Drive as a network drive over WebDAV. See Mount Drive on your computer.
