Share a presentation and comment

last updated at: Jun 8, 2026

Presentations are private to you until you share them. You can share with specific people, with a team, or with anyone who has a link, and choose whether they can view or edit. If you have editor access, you can also leave comments tied to specific objects on a slide.

Share a presentation

Open the presentation, then open the sharing dialog in one of two ways:

  • Click the Share button in the top-right corner of the toolbar.
  • Open the File menu and choose Share.

Share with specific people

  1. In the sharing dialog, type a name or email address in the box at the top, then select the person.
  2. They appear under People with access as an Editor by default.
  3. To change their level of access, open the dropdown next to their name and choose Editor (can view and edit) or Viewer (can view only).
  4. To remove someone, set their dropdown to Remove.
  5. Click Save.

Share with a team

If you belong to a team, click Share with team at the bottom of the dialog and pick the team. Every member of that team gets access.

Under General access, a presentation starts as Restricted: only the people you have added can open it.

To share more widely, click the lock icon to switch it to Unrestricted, then choose Can edit or Can view from the dropdown. Use the copy-link button (the chain-link icon) in the People with access header to copy the link and send it to whoever you like.

An Unrestricted link still requires the other person to sign in to Eigen. It isn't open to the public web.

Let people know

After you save, click the email button (envelope icon) in the People with access header to open the Email collaborators dialog. The button is greyed out until you have saved your changes.

Control who can change sharing

If you own the presentation, you can stop editors from re-sharing it. In the sharing dialog, turn off Editors can share. With it off, only you can add or remove people. Editors can still work on the presentation, but they cannot change who else has access.

Comment on an object

Comments attach to individual text boxes or images. You need editor access to add a comment.

  1. Right-click a text box or image on the canvas.
  2. Choose Add comment from the context menu.
  3. A New comment dialog appears. Give the comment a title and, optionally, a description and colour.
  4. Click Add comment.

A small coloured triangle appears in the top-right corner of the object to show it has a comment.

Open and reply to a comment

Click the coloured triangle on an object to open that comment's thread. You can read the messages, add a reply, and mark the comment as resolved.

View all comments

Click the Comments button (speech bubble icon) in the toolbar to open the comments panel on the right. The panel lists every comment on the current presentation. Use the All and For you tabs to filter by audience, and the status dropdown to show Open, Resolved, or All comments.

Click a comment in the panel to jump to the object it is attached to and open its thread.

Resolve a comment

Open the comment thread and mark it as resolved. Resolved comments are hidden by default in the panel. Switch the status filter to Resolved or All to see them again.
