Filter the cards on a board

A busy board is hard to read. The Filter menu in the toolbar narrows it down to the cards you care about: the ones assigned to a particular person, the ones in a certain colour, or the ones that are still open. Filtering changes what you see, not the board itself, so nobody else's view changes.

Filter by assignee

1. Open the Filter menu in the toolbar.
2. Point at Assigned to.
3. Choose Anyone, Me, or Unassigned, or pick a person from the list underneath.

The list holds everyone the board is shared with. See Assign and resolve cards for how a card gets an assignee in the first place.

Filter by colour

The Filter menu has a Color submenu listing every sticky colour. Click a colour to switch it on, and a tick appears beside it. Click more colours to add them, and the board shows cards in any of the colours you have ticked. The menu stays open while you pick, so you can choose several in one go.

The middle of the toolbar shows the same colours as a row of swatches. Click a swatch to switch that colour on or off. The row needs a wide window, so on a narrow one use the Filter menu instead.

Filter by status

A card counts as open until someone resolves it.

1. Open the Filter menu and point at Status.
2. Choose Open, Resolved, or All.

A board starts on All, so resolved cards sit on the board alongside the rest until you change this.

See what the filter is doing, and clear it

While a filter is on, a short summary sits next to the colour swatches, for example "All · assigned to me · 2 colors". Click Clear beside it to drop every filter at once and go back to the whole board.

The menu carries the same escape: Clear filters appears at the bottom of the Filter menu while a filter is active.

Your filter is not saved. Close the board and open it again, and every card is back.
