Share a board and manage access

A Stickies board is private to you until you share it. You can share with specific people, with a whole team, or with anyone who has the link, and choose whether they can view or also make changes.

Open the Share dialog

You can open the Share dialog from two places:

  • From inside the board: click the share button (person-with-plus icon) in the top-right corner of the toolbar. It is only visible when you have write access.
  • From the board list: right-click a board (or click its ⋮ menu), open the Share submenu, and choose Share.

Share with specific people

  1. In the Share dialog, type an email address or name in the field at the top.
  2. Select the person from the suggestions. They appear under People with access.
  3. New people are added as Editor by default. To change that, click the dropdown next to their name and choose Viewer (view only) or Editor (view and make changes).
  4. Click Save.

To remove someone later, open the same dialog, set their dropdown to Remove, and click Save.

Share with a team

If you belong to a team, click Share with team at the bottom of the dialog and pick the team. Everyone in that team gets access.

Under General access, a board starts as Restricted. Only the people you have added can open it.

To share more widely, click the lock icon to switch it to Unrestricted, then choose Can edit or Can view. Click Save, then use the link icon in the Share dialog to copy the link.

An Unrestricted link still requires the other person to sign in to Eigen. It is not open to the public web. There is no anonymous, sign-in-free sharing.

Let people know

After you save your changes, you can send everyone you have shared with a short message and the link. Open the File menu in the board toolbar and choose Email collaborators.

See boards others have shared with you

Open the sidebar and look under Sharing. Click Stickies shared with me to see every board someone else has given you access to.

To see the boards you have shared, click Stickies shared by me.

Control who can change sharing

If you own the board, you can stop editors from re-sharing it. In the Share dialog, turn off Editors can share. With it off, only you can add or remove people. Editors can still work on the board, but they cannot change who else has access.

When sharing is restricted, editors who open the Share dialog see a read-only list of who has access and cannot make changes.
