Download a drawing as SVG or PDF

last updated at: Sep 11, 2026

You can download a drawing from Vector as an SVG image or as a PDF. Both formats include the whole drawing, cropped to its content with a small margin around the edges.

Download from the editor

  1. Open the drawing in Vector.
  2. Click File in the toolbar.
  3. Point to Download in the menu.
  4. Click SVG image (.svg) or PDF (.pdf).

A progress dialog appears while the file is prepared. The drawing is rendered on the server, so a large one can take a moment. When it is ready, the file downloads to your browser's default download folder.

Download from Drive

You don't have to open a drawing to download it. In Drive, right-click the drawing (or open its menu), point to Download, and choose SVG image (.svg) or PDF (.pdf). You get the same file as from the editor.

SVG image

SVG scales to any size without losing quality, and it opens in web browsers and most other design tools. Choose it when you want to place the drawing at any size or keep working on it in another tool.

If the drawing has a background colour, the SVG includes it. A drawing with a transparent background stays transparent.

PDF

A PDF is best for printing or for sharing a fixed page that looks the same everywhere. The page is sized to fit the drawing.

If the drawing has a background colour, the PDF includes it. A drawing with a transparent background prints on a white page.

Vector downloads to SVG and PDF only. There is no PNG or JPG export. To get a PNG or JPG, download the SVG and export it from another tool.
