Move an event to another calendar

If you put an event on the wrong calendar, you can move it without retyping anything. You change the calendar from the same Edit Event dialog you use for every other change.

Move an event

1. Click the event in the calendar. Its detail panel opens.
2. Click the pencil icon in the bottom-left corner of the panel. The Edit Event dialog opens.
3. At the bottom of the dialog, open the calendar picker (the dropdown next to the calendar icon) and choose the calendar you want. The picker appears once you have more than one calendar to pick from.
4. Click Save.

Moving between two of your own calendars keeps everything as it was: the guest list, who organised the event, the repeat pattern, and any occurrences you changed on their own. Nothing is cancelled and nobody loses their place on the guest list.

If the event repeats, changing its calendar moves the whole series. Calendar does not ask which occurrences to update, the way it does for other edits.

Move to a calendar someone shared with you

The picker also lists calendars that other people and teams have shared with you, as long as your access lets you edit them. A team calendar is listed under the team's name. Pick one of those and the event changes owner, which works differently from a move between your own calendars.

An event cannot be handed over as it stands, so Calendar creates a copy on the other calendar and removes the original. Before it does, a Move to another calendar owner? dialog tells you what that costs. Depending on the event, it warns that:

• Your guests are told the event was cancelled, then invited again.
• The link to an event someone else invited you to is removed, and the person who organised it sees you as having declined.
• Occurrences of a repeating event that you changed on their own do not come along.

Click Move to go ahead, or Cancel to leave the event where it is.
