Chat commands

Chat has a set of slash commands you type directly in the message box. Start typing / and a suggestion list appears. Use the arrow keys to browse it, then press Tab or Enter to complete the command.

Send /help at any time to print the full command list in the room. The output is only visible to you.

Messaging commands

Command	What it does
/whisper [email] [message]	Sends a private message to one person. Other people in the room see a placeholder and cannot read the content. You can also use /tell instead of /whisper.
/reply [message]	Replies to the last whisper you received, without typing the email address again.
/invite [email]	Invites someone to the room by email address. They gain access to the room straight away.

Whisper messages appear with a tinted background and an italic whisper label so you can tell them apart from regular messages.

Inspect a person

Command	What it does
/inspect [email]	Shows a contact card for that person, visible only to you. You can also use /look or /finger.

The card shows the person's name and, if they are in your Contacts, their company and phone number.

Custom emotes

Command	What it does
/me [action]	Posts an emote in italics describing your action. For example, /me stretches and yawns appears as an italicised line with your name.

Built-in emotes

Chat includes more than 80 named emotes. Type / followed by the name to use one. Many of them accept an optional email address as a target, which changes the message everyone sees. For example, /wave posts a wave to the room, and /wave alice@example.com directs it at a specific person.

A few emotes require a target. /trout is one: you must supply an email address.

The table below lists every emote. Aliases shown alongside the primary name also work.
