Search your contacts
last updated at: Jun 8, 2026
The search bar in Contacts filters your list as you type, so you can find anyone by first name, last name, or email address without scrolling through the whole list.
Search your contacts
- Open Contacts. You land on My Contacts by default.
- Click the search bar at the top of the list. It shows the placeholder text Search contacts....
- Type part of a name or email address. The list updates immediately and shows only the contacts that match.
- Click the contact you want to open their details.
To clear the search and see everyone again, delete what you typed in the search bar.
What the search covers
Contacts matches against:
- First name
- Last name
- Any email address stored on the contact (a contact can have more than one)
Searching for smith would show a contact named "Jane Smith" and one whose email is smith@example.com. The match is not case-sensitive.
Search team members
If you belong to a team, click the team name in the sidebar. The same search bar applies there. It filters team members by their name and email address.
Narrow the list with labels
If you use labels to organise your contacts, click a label in the sidebar first. The list already shows only the contacts in that label, and the search bar then filters within that subset.
See Organise contacts with labels and groups for more on setting up labels.
