Find files shared with you

last updated at: Jun 8, 2026

Drive keeps two views that bring shared files together in one place: Shared with me shows everything other people have given you access to, and Shared by me shows everything you have shared with others.

Find files shared with you

  1. Open Drive.
  2. In the sidebar, under Sharing, click Shared with me.

The list shows every file and folder that someone has explicitly shared with you. Each row shows the file name, the owner's avatar, and who else has access.

Click a file to select it and see its details in the panel on the right. Click it again to open it. If a folder appears in the list, opening it takes you into that folder so you can browse its contents.

To preview a file without opening it, right-click and choose Quick preview, or press Space.

Find files you have shared

  1. Open Drive.
  2. In the sidebar, under Sharing, click Shared by me.

This shows every file and folder you own that has at least one other person or team with access. From here you can open a file, see who has access, or update the sharing settings.

Change sharing from either view

You can open the Share dialog for any file in either view. Right-click the file (or click the button) and choose Share. This opens the same dialog described in Share a file or folder, where you can add or remove people and change their access level.

In Shared with me, you can open and preview files, but you cannot rename or delete them. Those actions belong to the file's owner.

Right-click the file and choose Share → Copy link. The link is copied to your clipboard. Anyone you send it to will still need to sign in to Eigen, and will only be able to open the file if they have been given access.
