Discuss a card with comments

last updated at: Jun 8, 2026

Every card on a Stickies board has a built-in comment thread. You can use it to ask questions, post updates, or keep a record of decisions, all in one place alongside the card itself.

Open a card's comment thread

  1. Click the card you want to discuss. The card dialog opens.
  2. The comment thread is in the lower half of the dialog. You can read all previous messages there.
  3. Type your message in the Reply... box at the bottom, then press Enter to send it.

You can also open the thread from the context menu: right-click any card and choose View sticky.

Reply count

When a card has at least one message, a small reply count appears at the bottom of the card face, for example "3 replies". This lets you see at a glance which cards have active discussion without opening them.

Who can comment

Anyone who has access to the board can read the comment thread. To send a message you need write access to the board. If you only have view access, the input area shows "You have read-only access to this chat" and no send box appears.

See Share a board and manage access for how to adjust who can view or edit a board.

To send someone directly to a card's thread, open the card and click the link icon (Copy link) in the card header. Eigen copies a link to your clipboard. Anyone with access to the board can open that link and land straight on the card.
